This tutorial will describes how to install Enlightenment 19 desktop environment in Ubuntu 14.04 LTSEnlightenment Desktop Environment is an advanced window manager with minimal effect, clean, fast, modular and very extensible window manager for X11 and Linux.

Included with EFL ( Enlightenment Foundation Libraries) it allow end user to create beautiful user interfaces with much less work than doing it the old fashioned way and fighting with traditional toolkits, not to mention a traditional window manager. It covers uses from small mobile devices like phones all the way to powerful multi-core desktops (which are the primary development environment).

E19 called Enlightenment 19 is desktop environment that will used as default desktop Bodhi Linux 3.0. in bodhi linux the package enlightenment called bodhi desktop. Based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Trusty Tahr, Bodhi Linux 3.0 will be released next August 2 2014.

Install Enlightenment 19 in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and Derivatives

In order to install Enlightenment E19 with various dedicated applications included in Bodhi Linux 3.0 on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, you need add the Bodhi Linux repositories on your system. you can doing it by typing the following command:

sudo sh -c 'echo "deb http://packages.bodhilinux.com/bodhi trusty main" >> /etc/apt/sources.list'

Update the repository:

sudo apt-get update

Install Enlightenment 19/bodhi-desktop with the following command:

sudo apt-get install bodhi-desktop

Optional, you can install Econnman/Connman to replace your existing network manager :

sudo apt-get install econnman connman

Once the installation is complete, logout from your current session. Click the icon in the upper-right of the Ubuntu login screen and corner will be a menu with all the options currently desktop environments installed. the latest addition to this list will be the “Enlightenment” Select this and then put your login credentials to enter and confirm the new desktop environment.
