How to Install LXQt 0.7.0 in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Trusty Tahr
This tutorial will describes how to installing LXQt 0.7.0 in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS Trusty Tahr. As we know, LXQt is a new lightweight desktop environment, the mergence of LXDE and Razor-Qt, its a new open source desktop environment that aims to bring LXDE with various dedicated applications in QT.
The development of LXQt has brought great stability and excellent results obtained by the migration of many applications in Qt by default such as the file manager PCManFM over to the new reader LXImage images etc. Given the stability obtained the developer LXQt have released version 0.7.0 at this time, the first public version of the new Linux desktop environment that we can already test in major Linux distributions.
LXQt 0.7.0 is now available through both its source code and packages for Arch Linux, Fedora, openSUSE, Ubuntu and FreeBSD (experimental).
Installing LXQt 0.7.0 in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
To installing LXQt 0.7.0 in Ubuntu 14.04 you need add the PPA (lubuntu-dev/lubuntu-daily and gilir/q-project) on your system. The both PPA support for ubuntu previous version (Ubuntu 13.10, Ubuntu 13.04, Ubuntu 12.10, Ubuntu 12.04, Ubuntu 11.10, Ubuntu 11.04) and derivatives. Use the following command to add the PPAs and installing LXQt 0.7.0:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:lubuntu-dev/lubuntu-daily sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gilir/q-project sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install lxqt-metapackage lxqt-panel openbox
Once the installation is complete, logout from your current session of Ubuntu. Click the icon in the upper-right of the Ubuntu login screen and corner will be a menu with all the options currently desktop environments installed. the latest addition to this list will be the “LXQt Desktop.” Click on this and then put your login credentials to enter and confirm the new environment.
