Enlightenment 17 in Ubuntu

Enlightenment 17 is an advanced window manager with minimal effect, clean, fast, modular and very extensible window manager for X11 and Linux.  The new Enlightenment E17 Stable based on a completely modular structure with which we can dynamically load external modules such as desktop pager, the dockbar ‘iBar,’ a form window taskbar drop-shadow etc.

This tutorial will shown you how to install Enlightenment 17 Desktop on Ubuntu 13.10. This guide also work on previous versions of Ubuntu based distribution ( such as: Ubuntu 12.04, Ubuntu 12.10, Ubuntu 13.04 and Ubuntu 13.10) that meet the dependencies required to install it.

Installing Enlightenment 17 in Ubuntu 13.10

In order to install Enlightenment 17, Open terminal and Add the PPA Enlightenment 17 into ubuntu system by entering the command below.

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:efl/trunk

After Adding the PPA Enlightenment, Ubuntu needs to be updated to reflect the changes we’ve made.

sudo apt-get update

Once your Ubuntu software sources have been updated, Enlightenment can finally be installed.

sudo apt-get install e17

Once installed, Sign out from current session and select login with Enlightenment.

Select Enlightenment DE
