Install the new Rhythmbox 2.98 in Ubuntu-Based Distro

The People music player for GNOME, New Music player Rhythmbox has been updated to version 2.98 and this version includes some new changes as:

  • New Dialogue to import music into the library
  • New search audio metadata, Replacing libmusicbrainz
  • Enhancement of transitions between images of album art
  • Improvements cluebar buttons Nautilus
  • Update notification button when playback changes state
  • Grilo plugin ported to grilo API 0.2
  • Search in MusicBrainz for album cover by artist and album
  • Love Buttons / ban now visible in the sources last.fm / libre.fm

But it will take some time for this update is in the ubuntu software repository, and most likely will not be included in Ubuntu Precise because stability factors. Users can install the latest version of a PPA and enjoy the latest features:

Installation Rhythmbox 2.98

To install New music player Rhythmbox 2.98 in Ubuntu-Based distribution (ubuntu 12.10/12.04/11.10), we will rely to the WebUpd8 PPA. Open a terminal and type following commands:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/rhythmbox
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install rhythmbox
