MATE Desktop 1.2 for stable version has been release by MATE team, It’s a fork of Gnome 2, provides classic gnome style UI for people feel uncomfortable with Gnome 3 gnome-shell desktop. MATE Desktop is new version of the popular Desktop Environment has had a large amount of work done to it to further distance itself from GNOME, fixing all known conflicts with having GNOME installed side-by-side and finishing the process of removing all references to the original in the file structure.
