Unity 5.0 available for Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin, currently not yet available in the official Ubuntu Software Repositories but Unity 5.0 available in the PPA for testing. Unity 5.0 still under development by Unity Team.
Unity 5.0 is much more responsive than the previous Unity, open the windows, transitions, etc. all look ‘sharp’. This makes sense; Unity developers Didier Roche said that one purpose of Unity 5.0 is to improve the quality, precision . I would agree that they have done that and more: Unity 5.0 feels very easy to use.
In unity 5.0, when you launch an application, the menu is initially displayed on the top bar and is only hidden after an amount of time which can be tweaked (along with the fade duration) through CCSM. Until now, the menu would always be hidden and only show up on mouse over, but this behavior made the menu hard to discover for new users, so with this change, the Unity devs hope to make the menu easier to find.
