Cinnamon is a fork of GNOME Shell Created and developed by Linux Mint Team. Now Cinnamon comes with a Gnome2-Like panel at bottom, with classic menu, favourite apps, and system tray icons on it.

How to Installing Cinnamon 1.1.3 on Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot
Please download Cinnamon 1.1.3 installer here or you can type or copy following command in terminal:
wget -O cinnamon-1.1.3.deb http://goo.gl/3H9Mk wget -O cinnamon-session.deb http://goo.gl/UCFRu
Now you can install cinnamon and cinnamon-session
sudo pkg -i cinnamon-1.1.3.deb cinnamon-session.deb
Now, you may logout and select “Cinnamon” on session choices, then login back.
